When your body produces too much oil, and if you are very active and sweat more, you skin produces acne. Especially in the summer, with the heat and sunscreen, you are bound to breakout. Body acne can be a huge issue for some.
Face vs Body
Body acne is a bit different than facial. When you breakout on your body, the technical term for it is folliculitis, which is what they consider an infected hair follicle. Regardless of what you want to call it acne on the body and face looks the same and can be treated with the same products.
As stated before, don’t let companies trick you into thinking you need a special product geared towards body acne. The same acne balms, creams, serums, and washes you use on your face, can be used anywhere else. If you are prone to acne here are a few tips to prevent it:
-Shower often especially if you work out this helps to rinse off the oil and sweat
-Use a gentle body wash that contains salicylic acid such as Dial acne wash
-Consistent use will reduce inflammation, and keep pores unclogged
Face Wash For The Body
If you choose to use your face wash for your body acne, make sure it contains salicylic acid, instead of benzoyl peroxide. This ingredient, though great for acne is great for bleaching clothes as well! You canalso try spot treatments that you might use on your face, on your chest and back.
Exfoliants: Be Careful
Though exfoliators are a great addition to anyone’s beauty regimen you have to be careful. Exfoliants can do more harm than good if not used properly. Scrubbing with them too vigorously can leave your skin overly dry, and even damaged. The skin on your chest is then, and can scar easily if too much scrubbing takes place. Over doing the exfoliation can also be an issue. Try and limiting its usage to once a week.
