Dating can be a bit nerve wrecking! I know the feeling trust me! I am going through it right now. Should I ask him this, should I say that? It’s like my conscious is on overload. It hard to to over thing things, especially when you really like the person. A first date can really set the tone for the remainder of your relationship with a person, so it is important that you make a good impression, while still being true to yourself. Try to avoid these things when partaking a first date!
Does he want to take you to a sushi restaurant, but you don’t like fish? Do you not drink, and he wan’t to go to a bar? This is the learning stage my friends! Don’t feel that you are being bossy, by speaking up. He doesn’t necessarily know your likes and dislikes, and there is nothing more awkward than letting him think he’s planned this awesome first date, all to find out there is nothing appealing to you about it. Allow him to be successful, and if he is offering up poor suggestions for your first meet up, give him a little help!
Don’t Be Late (on purpose)
Yea i’m sure you’ve heard it before, let him sweat a bit, keep him wondering. Ladies this is just a game that you are starting, and in the long run it will be the reason why you are home crying wondering why he doesn’t return your texts and calls. There is nothing wrong with being on time. If he is silly enough to fall into the the whole “she’s way too into me” crap because you have a watch and actually read it, then you don’t need him anyways. A great first impression is actually to be on time, it shows that you are not only committed to the date, but that you are considerate of the plans that he has made.
Too High, Too Short, Too Tight
Ladies listen, as if a first date isn’t stressful enough, why add a too tight dress or skirt in the mix that you constantly have to tug on as you walk? Wear something flattering, sexy, but comfortable at the same time. There is nothing worse than trying to have an in depth conversation with a person you just met, while also having an internal battle with yourself about how bad your feet are hurting!
Stay Off Your Phone
If you can’t shave off a few hours of your time to get to know this new guy, then you aren’t ready to date. Being attached to your phone is not only annoying, it shows lack of interest. Be committed to this first date and try and stay off your phone! As a rule try to keep your phone in your purse/bag. Out of sight out of mind right?
No Need To Prove Anything
There is no need to talk about how great you were in your last relationship, and how sorry your ex is feeling that he lost you, or how you spend 3 hours a day in the gym. Let him get to know you. It will resonate a lot more when he can figure out himself that you are a great catch!
Unless you want him to think that you are sick, or have some type of eating disorder, there is nothing wrong with eating. Don’t be that girl that wants to pretend she only eats vegetables and water with light ice on the side, and then goes home and kills a gallon of ice cream. He took you to dinner so that you can be fed, no need to starve all night.
Don’t Get Wasted
It’s not only NOT lady like, its not smart. On the first day you should keep it to a 2 drink maximum. There isn’t anything wrong with a little buzz, but keep it classy. It’s also just a good idea to keep your head clear, so that you can get home safe. If this is a guy you just met, you don’t want to find yourself in a situation you weren’t planning to be in, like in his bed!
