I hate to say this, but you have got to be upfront about what you like to adorn your hair with. Most men these days still have no clue what goes on with a woman’s hair, and even though most claim they hate fake hair, as long as it looks nice they probably can’t even tell. If it’s one thing that is absolutely clear, is assumptions are not your best friend. Fess up early about the fake stuff, its truly beneficial for both of you.
I know for me personally I have no issue telling a guy, “hey just so you know love rocking my wigs and weave”, but that is probably because I am comforted with the fact that my natural hair is long and thick. If you are a bit more hesitant about revealing your dirty little secret try remembering that honesty is the best policy here, and if he can’t accept it, then its better that you found out now!
There is absolutely nothing more awkward than that first night you sleep over and you have to figure out what to do with your wig. I remember back when I was still self-conscious about it, I actually kept my old wigs (of the same version), simply just to wear to bed so that I could swap it out and I wouldn’t have to take it off and go to bed with my head looking bare. It’s times like those that make me re-evaluate why I am wearing the hair. Am I ashamed of myself/my hair and hiding it under the wig, or am I just changing up my look, being more flexible?
Look you would rather dodge that bullet now. Better to find a person willing to accept your enhancements, because they make you feel beautiful and happy. This will make him less shocked, and leave you guilt free. No more sneaking around trying to swap out that wig for a scarf and wondering if he notices! True love can’t be fostered under false pretenses. When two people are 100% open and comfortable with one another it leaves room for a beautiful relationship to blossom. So ladies do yourself a favor and tell him. You shouldn’t have to do a balancing act between your man and your weave.
- Wear it right
If you are going to wear a weave/wig wear it in a way that is flattering to your look. Don’t go over board (TOO long, too many colors) and maintain it so that it looks presentable.
2. Avoid Trends
Let’s face it some things are simply meant for the television only. Just because you see Nicki Minaj rock it at the BET awards does not mean you get the next available appointment with your hairdresser in attempt to duplicate. All trends aren’t meant to be followed. Stick to what works for you, and is flattering.
3. Be Confident
This alone will make you look that much better. If you are going to do the fake thing, make sure you have the attitude to match. If you are uncomfortable, it will show. Don’t wear something that isn’t boosting your confidence levels!
