Yet another trending beauty phenomenon, and though the industry may just be catching on, apparently micellar water has been around for ages. Its usage can be traced back to France, where it was used by the Parisians as an alternative to their harsh water supply. Micellar water is made up of micelles, otherwise known as tiny oil molecules suspended in soft water. “Micelles are attracted to dirt, grime, and oil, and they draw out impurities without drying out your skin.” says Dermatologist Debra Luftman. “Rather than containing a foamy solution that strips your skin and leaves behind harsh chemicals, micelles cling on to the dirt and makeup on your skin and dissolve them while leaving behind a glowy, hydrated finish,” she says.
So this water is practically a 1 step, no rinse alternative to your everyday cleansers and moisturizers. Makeup artists and models swear by it, and though its a bit on the pricy side, its apparently well worth the investment! And even better, it doesn’t discriminate on skin types. Dr. Luftman explains, “Considering the fact that it requires absolutely no rinsing and is suited for all skin types—especially super dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin—the water is a serious game changer.” Now I know many ladies dread the process of removing their makeup at night. The cleansing, exfoliation, toning, moisturizing…I mean clearly it’s a lot of NECESSARY steps. Micellar water is said to replace all of this! I don’t know about you, but I am definitely planning to try this one out!
